Rampage of the Dwarves

This was done as a commission for a visitor of my works who was not only an avid fan of Tolkein's Middle Earth mythos, he was also a collector of replica memorabilia of the series. The aim of the job was to design an image that would be spray painted onto a wall and his collected items shown here from his collection would be mounted onto the hands on that wall. I haven't heard further word if he has completed his own job, but it was certainly a joy to work on this one, and as you can see, I can showcase a detailed step by step process on how it went.

My aim was to keep my design as close to the Hobbit movies as possible, with the addition that Dwalin would wear a kilt with an Orc skull attached. Definitely good fun and a worthwhile exercise in detailed fashion and design.
Hobbit by Tolkien. Art by me, done in inks and Photoshop with background textures from my stock photos.

The Finished piece, including the effects, ambience and complimentary background.

The colour job with the blood splatters. When I asked how much and which Colour the chap replied lots of red with a devilish grin. I think paused mid-way sipping my tea when I read that email. :P

Preliminary sketches based on the details the client provided and the subsequent research for references. He originally gave me a stick figure doodle to work with. I think Nori posed a problem to work with originally.
